Your Home Always Smells Great!!!

These are words that are great to hear when someone enters your home. Now let’s make it happen!

Smell is one of our strongest senses,. Consequently, when something smells bad, it can really bother us. This is especially true if that thing is our open home!

The good news is, there are lots of simple things you can do to make sure that your home always smells amazing. You will be able to enjoy your home more and not be embarrassed when having guests over.

Refresh your rugs

If you have rugs or carpets in your home, they can get a little funky over time due to all the feet that have walked on them, not to mention dirty shoes, and because they are fabric, they cling on to scents very well.

Luckily, it’s really easy to refresh rugs by mixing a few drops of your favorite essential oil orange oil always smells so fresh and inviting) with a little baking soda. Sprinkle liberally on the rugs, leave for as long as you can, and then vacuum. No more bad smells for you.

Deal with pests

If your home is overrun with pests like mice or voles, then the place is inevitably going to start smelling a bit funky. Call in H2 Pest Control, deal with the pest problem and you won’t have to keep wrinkling your nose every time you’re in the kitchen or garage or wherever.

Pot some plants

Houseplants are great for helping you to freshen up the scent of your home. Why? Because they are greatest at filtering the air and purifying your space. The more plants you have, the fresher your home will smell. But make sure you choose plants like Peace Lily which are known for their air pollutant-eliminating properties.

Put a lemon down the garbage disposal

If your garbage disposal is leaking out a disgusting stench, then something you can do to freshen it up and get your home smelling great again is to simply put a lemon or two down the disposal. As it is mashed up, it will release its scent and your kitchen space will smell clean and citrusy for hours afterward.

Enjoy some incense

Many people use scented candles to make their homes smell good, but you know what I think is better? Incense. Why? Because when you burn incense, not on,y does it sell great while the stick is burning but the scent tends to linger and stick to fabrics, which means your home will go on smelling sweet, spicy, and fragrant long after you have stopped burning your chosen stick.

Place dryer sheets in drawers

If your drawers tend to get a bit funky when you have not opened them for a while, it can be a good idea to place dryer sheets in there. That way, the drawers, and everything in them will stay fresh and sweet-smelling for many months. Additionally, your winter wardrobe will not end up smelling funky over the summer months.

Put these ideas into action and your house really will be a home, sweet-smelling home. You will be able to enjoy it so much more as a result.

  1. Great ideas! I do put lemon down the garbage disposal when we notice it starts to smell and usually have some oils diffusing in the house. Keeping the pets cleaned up helps, too.

  2. We usually burn candles to add a pleasant scent to the indoor air. I have heard about people using dryer sheets, but have never given it a try. And a lemon in the garbage disposal? That’s a new one that I need to try!
