Walking for sex…. come on, get your mind out of there! What we are really talking about here is exercise.

How can exercise improve your sex life?

A physically fit person is more likely to have a satisfying sex life.

Men who are fit have an increased libido and more stable testosterone levels. Similarly, women are more likely to achieve orgasm due to the improved muscle tone.  Physically fit men and women have better cardio fitness. all things considered, rigorous sessions are more likely and more gratifying.

Regular exercise increases blood flow.

Blood flow to the nether regions increases the ability to have sex and increases the gratifying nature of sex.

The Annals of Internal Medicine (August, 2013) states that men who exercise just 3-5 hours per week have 30% less risk of erectile dysfunction. They specifically mention running, biking and walking.  Follow up studies confirm that obese men can expect similar results. Dr. Irwin Goldstein recommends a brisk two mile walk per day.

A person with a body that they feel proud of is more likely to take their clothes off.

This one is pretty basic but very, very true. Arguably, this does tend to affect women more than men. Women have been brainwashed into this concept of the ideal woman, a concept that for the most part is not real. The majority of women have not been taught that they are beautiful and wonderful as they are. Seeing skinny models modeling sexy lingerie does not help to make a woman of a normal size feel sexy. Forget it if she has a few extra pounds to lose. Unfortunately, we tend to beat ourselves up constantly. It is a terrible cycle that does not help in the bedroom. The cycle is hard to beat but it can be beat.  Entering the world of exercise will help.  By the same token, if we couple exercise with healthy, clean eating we really have a great formula.

Improved self esteem and confidence have a considerable effect on sex frequency and satisfaction.

When you come to a sexual encounter feeling sexy and confident you radiate confidence. This is nature’s most beautiful aphrodisiac.  A sexually confident person will speak up for what they desire. They will go after what they want. They will not be stuck in their head with thoughts of how they look, how they feel and how they are performing.

Exercise helps with stress reduction and improvement of one’s mood.

A happy person is just more fun to be around. Someone who is more fun in life may also be more fun in the bedroom. Pretty simple stuff here, but there is more. Sex can improve mood, as can feeling sexy and desirable.

Hey, and by the way, going for a walk with your lover is a great way to connect outside of the bedroom before the bedroom fun even begins!

Sex is a mood enhancer. Walking is a mood enhancer. Walking for sexually improved encounters makes good, logical sense… so GET WALKING!

Do you have great places to walk? Tell me about them.

Update 5/1/7

I was chosen as an inspirational post in the Inspire Me Monday Linky party.

Janice of Mostly Blogging says, ”

Will Walking Improve Your Sex Life?, was a little risqué. (If reading about sex offends you, I won’t mind if you skip this part.) The post, written by a doctor, practically equates taking a walk with your partner (fully clothed, out of the house) as a precursor for sex. What a novel benefit of walking!

How fun, I hope you enjoyed the post too.

  1. Experimenting with sex toys can help you become more aware of your body, discover what makes you tick, and then guide your partner during intercourse.

  4. Hi Elise,
Thank you for linking to me and giving my party exposure. Rereading my comment, I was concerned I sounded a little prudish. I hope I didn’t sound too prudish, anyway. Thanks for being so thoughtful as to link to me and quote me.

  5. HI Elise,
I am always looking for ways bloggers can improve their health. I hope to blog about it one day if I find enough research. Bloggers are happier if they have sex which begins with walking? Okay, it’s a stretch. At any rate, thanks for bringing your article to the Inspire Me Monday Linky Party last week.

    1. LOL, it is a stretch but can be true. Let me know if you need help with that project and thanks for putting together the Inspire Me Monday Link party. I am working on launching a Tip Tuesday Link Party and a Foodie Friday Link Party.

  6. This makes sense. I know I feel a lot more happy and comfortable with myself when I have been trying to take care of my body. Plus anytime I get to take a walk with my husband, I take it 🙂

  7. This is a really informative and thought provoking post! I recently got a step tracker because I know that I can easily lose some weight with enough walking and regular exercise and NOW I know that I could improve my sex life, too! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing this great post! 🙂

  8. My husband and I love to go on walks together. It seems that is one of the few times when our children are awake that we can have an uninterrupted conversation, which is key to a strong relationship!

  9. I absolutely love this article. It caught my attention immediately with the headline, but this is definitely worth the read. It, also, helps motivate me to continue working out even when I don’t feel like it. There are so many benefits. Thanks!

  10. This is great! I knew there was another reason for the exercising I’ve been doing lately!!! My husband and I wake up 30 minutes before our toddlers every day during the week to do some quick exercising to start the day.
