Sunscreen used properly can go a long way to keeping you healthy.

However, most of us are using it incorrectly.

In the summertime we all start wearing our favorite dresses and breaking out the shorts. Then comes the search for last year’s sunscreen.

Now it is time to check that expiration date. According to The Food and Drug Administration, that beautiful protective cream has a shelf life of three years.

But here is the thing… we should not have to be searching for last years stockpile of sun protection.

We should be wearing sunscreen every single day.

It isn’t just for the summer. In fact, it can be more important for the health of your skin than any other product you might use.

Here are the uses and benefits of wearing sunscreen every single day of the year.

Shields UV Rays

The main point we need to address is the fact that sunscreen shields our skin from harmful UV rays. The sun is around all year round, not just in the summer, and it can even be lower in the winter causing us more damage. To protect your skin against being harmed by UV rays, you need to slap on a layer of sunscreen each morning before you leave the house.

Prevents Aging

Everyone aims to stay looking young and spritely for as long as they can in life. There are many different things which help to keep us looking fresh face in life, and one of the biggest is sunscreen. If you have ever seen someone who constantly uses tanning beds, you will know that the skin ages hugely and looks leathery after a while. However, by protecting the skin each day you are retaining moisture in the skin and also making sure that wrinkles don’t form.

Lowers Skin Cancer Risks

If there is any reason to wear sunscreen more often, it is that it can lower the risk of skin cancer by a huge amount. Unless you want to end up at the hospital, you need to protect your body as well as you possibly can to ensure that you won’t suffer from health issues like this. The good news is that cancer screening has evolved according to MedComp Sciences meaning that if you do find a suspicious mole it will not be the end of the world. Applying sunscreen even once a day can greatly reduce your risk of forming skin cancer.

Prevents Sunburn

There’s nothing worse than coming home after a fun day in the sun to find that you are the colour of a lobster. Sunburn is incredibly painful for anyone and it can lead to blistering, peeling and soreness for days, if not weeks depending on the severity of the burn. To prevent your skin from suffering make sure that you choose a good sunscreen and reapply it a couple of times a day during the summer. You will be able to still tan but avoid that telltale tightness in your skin.

Makes Skin Happy

Skin is happier when it is moisturized, and if you want to keep your body soft and supple throughout your life, moisturising is exactly what you need to do each and every day. Think about the fact that moisturizing the skin hydrates your cells, and the more hydrated the cells are, the healthier they will appear. Make sure to put on a layer each morning before you leave the house for sun protection and hydration too.

  1. Sunscreen is so important and you touched on all the reasons. I wear make-up with sunscreen in it and I love it so much!

      1. Thank you for a very informative article. The dangers of too much exposure to sun and no sunscreen can never be overstated

  2. I used to skip the sunscreen but as I’ve aged, I see how damaging of a decision that was. I hope everyone not only reads this post but decides from reading it that it’s so important to wear sunscreen on a daily basis.

  3. I totally agree with you! Yes, it’s so important to wear sunscreen always. Would love to check this out. Very timely since I am almost running out of my current sunscreen.
