Does Life Feel As If Life Is Spiraling Out of Control?

Most people can deal with one or two problems. But when five all come along at once, it can take its toll on your mental health. You go from feeling okay about life to feeling buried by the weight of it all.

If you find yourself in this position, you’re not alone. And while that might not be much comfort, it does mean that people have been through similar things in the past and come out of the other side.

The trick here is to break the negative cycle. This happens when you have a negative experience, you suppress emotions, you think repetitively about them and then get into a cycle of depression and avoidant behavior.

Here are some of the things you can do to reverse the feeling of life Spiraling Out of Control. They can even help you to come out of the other side as a happier and healthier person.

Perform Some Self Care Activities

One of the best things you can do is to perform some self-care activities. These should be things that you’ve always enjoyed and that can really support you on your journey to better mental and physical health.

For instance, going cycling is a great way to get out of the house and feel closer to nature. You can also try journaling or reading a book. These small things can make a tremendous difference in how you feel.

Try Various Tactics To Improve Your Happiness Level

Changing your brain chemistry is an excellent way to improve your happiness level. Neurotransmitters play a significant role in how you feel.

The good news is that there are plenty of ways to do this naturally and healthily. For instance, you can take a cold shower, try meditating, or get a massage. You can also play with a pet or socialize more. These might sound like little things, but they make a big difference.

Avoid Behaviors That Will Make The Situation Worse

Even if things are going wrong in your life and you’re in a negative spiral, that doesn’t mean you should indulge in behaviors that make things worse. Unhealthy coping mechanisms can become entrenched and worsen your life significantly over time. While treating alcoholism, substance abuse, and other addictions is possible, these habits create a lot of damage along the way

Identify Your Negative Self Talk

Negative self-talk is a major driver of mental health downward spirals. The more internal conversation you have, the stronger it becomes. Eventually, it becomes entrenched and it’s difficult to see a way out.

The trick here is to catch yourself in the act. If you notice that you’re having a negative conversation with yourself, put an end to it. Try not to let it whirr around in your head. If that starts to happen, do something with your body to break the cycle or chat to a friend. Find ways to practice negativity less.

Start Journaling

Lastly, you might want to try journaling. This method lets you put down your thoughts on paper and expunge them from your mind. Externalizing them is a good way of letting go of them.
