Tips To Organize Your House AND keep your mind tidy too!

A tidy home can help you to feel calmer and less stressed. If you’re struggling to stay on top of tidying, or there’s clutter everywhere, here are some top tips to organize your house and keep stress at bay.

Have a clear-out

Most of us are guilty of hanging onto items we never use or throwing things in drawers, attics or cupboards that we don’t really want. Having a clear-out is a great way to declutter and free up space in your home and it can also be cathartic. Go through each room in your house or apartment and make piles of possessions you don’t want to keep. If you have clothes, books, electrical appliances or home furnishings that are in good condition, you could sell or donate them. It’s also wise to think about upcycling. This is an excellent idea if you have old pieces of furniture that you don’t use anymore or items that don’t suit the style of your home. You can upgrade, spruce up and refresh tables, chairs and units to create functional pieces that will look perfect in your house.

Consider storage solutions

Storage solutions solve common problems like cluttered spaces and a lack of room. There are multiple options to choose from, including buying storage units, furniture or containers, using space you don’t utilize for storage, such as a loft, or finding a storage unit to rent near your home. You can choose from large, medium-sized or mini storage units depending on your requirements or investigate solutions for possessions that require specific conditions. If you have plenty of room in your home, but you don’t have sufficient storage, there are some incredible ideas to explore. From floating shelves and wall-mounted units to beds and tables with hidden drawers and racks you can hang over the backs of doors, you can be discreet and hide items away or make a statement feature of your shelves or furniture.

Stick to a tidying routine

Many of us dread tidying up once piles of clutter have amassed and there is stuff everywhere. The easiest way to organize your home is to stick to a tidying routine. It’s much faster and simpler to tidy up at the end of the day than to embark upon a full-scale mission once a month. Put everything back in units, cupboards and boxes and baskets before you go to bed, vacuum and mop floors and wipe surfaces regularly and tidy up as you go when you’re cooking or playing with toys with your children or grandchildren. If you have a routine, this will save you time and effort and it’ll also ensure that your home looks clean, inviting and welcoming all the time.

A tidy home makes for a tidy mind. If you’re struggling to keep on top of tidying or banish clutter, organize a clear-out, consider storage solutions and stick to a tidying routine. Sell, donate or throw away anything you don’t want to keep, explore storage units to rent or add storage to your living spaces and clean and tidy up frequently.
