Hsi Lai Temple, A Calm Retreat

Today I need to visit Hsi Lai Temple.

I do not visit Hsi Lai Temple because of some commitment to be there but because it brings incredible calm to me.

You see, today did not start out as a good day. Today started out rather badly. Then it got better.

There was a bit of Thanksgiving preparation followed by a fantastic Vietnamese lunch… Oh so good.

My drink was supposed to be pictured below but I messed that up.  I already had enjoyed the liquid part of my beverage. and was getting ready to eat the fruits and seaweed when I realized that I forgot.

After lunch, we visited Hsi Lai Temple which is a Buddhist Temple not too far from my home. I always love it here. I find it very calming and I love to see the monks walking around.

We wander the grounds, light incense, sit in the temple and make donations. My mother-in-law, who is visiting, seems to also have found a certain peace here.

After the temple, we make a quick stop at the mall to buy a teapot.

So far all of the previous ones that I have chosen have just not wanted to live in my home. We broke the last one and have been having a hard time replacing it ever since. We found one online that the store was supposed to have in stock but did not. Then we found it from an online source, placed the order and waited.

We waited almost two weeks to find out that they were out of stock. That order was canceled. Then we found it in another store. Well, the hubby went to go and pick it up and when he brought it home we found that the handle was missing. I called the store to complain and they checked the other two boxes only to find out that those handles were missing too.

I went to Teavana and they had a nicer one that was actually in stock and whole. There was even a tea warmer to go with it I should have gone to Teavana first. My teapot is now at home where she belongs.

After this, it was off to Auntie’s house we go.

We had a wonderful visit with our cousin’s and Auntie.  My husband thought that I should bring some food of my own so that I knew I would have something to eat. However,  I had confidence in Auntie that she would have me taken care of.

I was not disappointed.

She cooked a feast and we enjoyed many laughs.

Family can be wonderful.
