Johnny Rockets is celebrating thirty years of bringing folks together in a fun and friendly atmosphere. This includes singing and dancing.
Behind all of the Johnny Rockets fun and games is a serious chef and management team who strive to provide the best options for meat eaters and non meat eaters, including a new Veggie Burger.
Chef Calvin Harris (pictured) is Vice President of International and Director of Culinary Innovation and a graduate of the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. He has more than 20 years of experience in culinary and product development, including stints at Burger King, Arby’s and TGI Friday’s. Prior to Johnny Rockets, Harris founded successful food startups including Harris Food Company and Benevida Foods. After consumer demand for a more innovative Johnny Rockets menu, the brand created the position of Director of Culinary Innovation.
Chef Harris has a goal of offering a fantastic Johnny Rocket’s Veggie Burger. He does not want to just tick the boxes. He wants to truly excite people.
To make this happen Johnny Rockets executives chose their top five veggie burgers. These were then presented to my colleagues and I during a tasting event. To keep things fair we were each served each of the five burgers, on separate plates, marked only with a number. The burgers did not come with buns, lettuce, tomatoes or condiments. There was no mayo, mustard or ketchup. This was so we can fully taste the burger. After each taste we cleansed our palates with water and crackers. We then wrote comments on taste and texture. The Johnny Rockets team would review these after we depart.
My favorite was a burger that had zucchini, greens and other vegetables.
I do not know which burger will win but I do know that whatever burger it is it will be served on a Brioche bun with greens, tomato and vegan mayo.
Do note that the burger will be vegetarian, not vegan.
I know that a few of my friends are also anxious to get over to Johnny Rockets and have a shake which I am told is FABULOUS.
If you could have any burger you wanted what would it be?

Thank you 🙂 I like Veggie Burgers very much but some are not so good. It is important to find the right one.
