We all have things in our lives that we wish to accomplish, but we are not always clear on how exactly to make sure that these goals are achieved.

Here I offer practical tips for you to accomplish your goals and thrive.

1. Manifest goals. Own the goals. Achieve the goals. Don’t  just “try” for goals.

The word “try” indicates someone who is unsure of their chances of success. Think long and hard about what you truly wish to achieve. Consider how you can best work towards the success of achievement.

Manifest your intention.

2. Write down the steps necessary to achieve your goals. Make certain that they are clear in your mind and easily understood. In this way you can obtain.

According to Dave Ramsey, author of Smart Money, Smart Kids, 81% of wealthy people maintain a “To Do” list and 67% of wealthy people write down their goals.

I highly recommend both of these practices. I have various types of lists all with a great deal of commonality while covering the scope that is needed for my success in business, family and life.

None of them are named “To Do.”

These important lists have a much better name. I maintain a list of five “Top Priority” items which encompasses my goals and I also create a “To Accomplish” list which is a twist on the name “To Do.”  This simple change in terminology gives what may simply be a list of mundane activities a much more positive spin.

For my home, each family member is given a “Daily Top Ten” which in reality is a list of chores that need to be taken care of in order for our house to run smoothly. They include items like make your bed, carry down dirty laundry, wash dishes, and “check in with Mom and Dad to see if they need help with anything.”

In addition to these daily lists, I also establish a monthly “Top Ten.”  These are a little broader in spectrum such as redo website, finish garden, work on POWER PUZZLE program for publication, continue forward progress on writing new cookbook, etc.  I use my monthly list to help focus my daily list on achieving goals.

3. Binge and Purge, Binge and Purge … some people do not belong in your life so BYE-BYE!

It may sound harsh, but it is true. If someone does not treat you the way you deserve to be treated then respect yourself enough to not allow them in your life anymore. Protect your spirit or these people will work very diligently to ruin your spirit. People who do not embrace your hopes, dreams and desires are often more interested in how you can help them. This does not allow for a mutually beneficial relationship but rather a relationship that is very much one sided and will deplete your energy source.

In no way, does this mean that you should not listen to constructive criticism, but rather, it means that the criticism needs to actually be constructive and should also include love and support. It is all about loving yourself the way you deserve to be loved.

4. Create a vision board.

A vision board will help you to put a true solid image in your mind for what you really want. Additionally, it is quite fulfilling. You know the phrase.

Add anything to the vision board that resonates with you. Some folks put pictures of supermodels, others will place photos of trips they wish to take, business goals or pictures of clothing. You can see some samples, tips and ideas by visiting me on Pinterest. There is nothing that you can put on this board that would be considered wrong. This board is about you, and only you, add all items that resonate with your heart and soul. Simply cut, paste and then hang your board somewhere where you will see it every day. For my techy people, you can simply create  a private board on Pinterest that only you can see.

5. Reflect on what is truly important to you.

What is it that will make you feel like you are living the life that you were intended to live?

Are you embracing this? Are you doing all that is necessary to nourish this idea of you? Do you need more time with family? Have you been able to spend the high quality time with them that you crave? If not, then it is time to make a change. Perhaps you need to prioritize your weeks and days a bit differently. Maybe it is as simple as prioritizing the hours in the day. Is time spent wasted on unnecessary tasks and pursuits that are not fulfilling?

Let these go and embrace the love that surrounds you.

Are you religious in nature but forgetting to embrace that side of you? We must embrace our entire core being in order to live the life that we were meant to. Perhaps religion, in the traditional sense, is not something that is on your radar at all. This does not make you any less spiritual, and it should also be fully embraced.

Own your beliefs, own your calling, and own your intentions. Make the time for all that truly nourishes your body, mind and spirit. Cut away all that does not allow for you to live the life that truly resonates with you.

In conclusion, we must always remind ourselves that the true beauty in life happens when we get out of our comfort zone.

  1. Thank you for another reminder that I really need to set goals and have them visible. I keep a to-do list on my calendar in my phone. That helps keep me focused on one thing at a time.

  2. Great reminders! I’ve set aside time this summer to write and focus on my blog and book project. I’m finding keeping my focus a bit challenging. This will help me stay on track!

  3. The power of your mind is huge in helping me take the first steps out of my comfort zone. . You have included important steps for successfully launching new changes. Thanks.

  4. What a beautiful article Elise! I love your tips on how to maintain lists and not call them “To Do” but instead “To accomplish”. I have a 15 year old daughter and 18 year old son. I’ve tried the list before without much success. I usually end up having to remind them their chores a few times in a week. I guess if I’m consistent with a list they’ll eventually get into the habit on following it ;)…Great reminder(s)!! Thank you for sharing!
