Tavern Bowl was the destination of choice for my very cute date (the hubby) and I on this beautiful night in Southern
California.
This is a lively restaurant and boutique bowling alley in Costa Mesa, California, that we were excited to enjoy with a group of friends.
In a big way, I needed this. We have been so super busy lately and the idea of visiting with friends, having fun bowling and sampling new foods sounded divine.
To say that the food was decadent would have been a huge understatement.
The kick off to the GiggaSavvy Tavern Bowl tasting event was this Jalapeno Margarita.
Okay, other people drank other things but I was fascinated by this deliciousness. I do not even know what was in it but it was GOOD!
From here the awesome GigaSavvy Social Club was really excited to sample Tavern Bowl Loaded Tater Tots.
These made from scratch tater tots are smothered in jalapeno cheese sauce, bacon, sour cream and green onions.
Other decadent offerings include Sweet Potato Fries served with caramel dipping sauce, Macaroni and Cheese Balls and Fried Pickles.
Plus there was also Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos and an assortment of traditional and boneless wings.
Of special interest are the Jerk Chicken Wings that magically appear during football season. This special recipe was created by a local Orange County resident, Mama Sherman, alongside Chef Paul Setola. I am told that these wings are fantastic. I am also excited to report that Tavern Bowl will donate $1 from every order to Mama Sherman’s Love & Caring In-Home Care charity.
As the DJ came on for the evening (available on select nights) the food and drinks continued to flow.
Food choices at Tavern Bowl are plentiful and may not be super diet friendly but when there is a will there is a way. A great, and healthful choice is the Roasted Garlic Hummus Appetizer. The Southwest Chicken Salad with the dressing on the side (or better yet, ask for oil and vinegar) is another healthier choice. Tavern Bowl also offers gluten-free* options.
This night has been so fun that we never even had a chance to bowl. I am excited to go back and enjoy that boutique bowling. It includes 10-state-of-the-art bowling lanes and 26 large screen TV.

Hello Elise, Wow I have not been bowling in ages and look at those appetizers and sandwiches YUM!! I am not to sure about that drink though.. I am not a big fan of Jalapeno’s!
Looks like a great date night..
Thanks for sharing
Chery :))
The Jalapeno in the drink was something I was super curious to try. It was not spicy like you would think.
Hi Elise,
I’m not a bowling fan, but this boutique bowling idea sounds like a lot of fun!
Lots of different things in sunny CA… never heard of this on the East Coast, but is sure seems like a nice break from “same old”…

The literally advertise it as “Not your father’s bowling alley.” It is definitely unique.
Hi Elise,
What a great night out – and so good that your cute date is your hubby.
My mouth was truly watering from start to finish of this post.
I have to confess that when I go out with friends I do usually throw caution to the winds and indulge myself. But it’s not that often we eat out, so not too wicked 🙂
Wish I lived near to Tavern Bowl – sounds just my sort of place 🙂

It is a really fun place.
I agree that an occasional indulgence is okay, it is when the occasions happen every week that we run into problems.
