Christopher Veal, The Daditude Coach

When Christopher Veal first learned that he was going to become a dad he struggled to identify what his role as a parent really meant for him.

I’m a dad to one daughter and an Organizational Development professional. I work as an OD & Training Manager for the Orange County Fire Authority.

What I’ve learned is that parenting is truly about being present and engaged.

My newfound passion for being an active dad led me to create a dad’s life coaching service Daditude.

[ctt template=”5″ link=”NO8U5″ via=”no” nofollow=”yes”]My mission is to coach and inspire dads to craft their own legacies; create meaningful impact in the world and the lives of their children.[/ctt]

I enjoy riding motorcycles, listening to music, reading, discovering new things to learn, mountain biking, and indulging in my newest hobby flying drones.

What I do well as a dad.

I’m mindful of giving my daughter all the attention she deserves and don’t allow technology and other projects to distract me.

What I learned from another dad.

Presence is exponentially more impactful than presents.

A lesson learned from my child.

Ask lots of questions. Particularly when you think you already have the answer; you’ll be surprised at the things a dad can learn.

A successful fatherhood moment.

The first few weeks after our daughter came home from the hospital were instrumental in my confidence as a father. My wife had a C-section, and the majority of work in caring for our daughter (and my wife) fell on my shoulders. It really helped me step up and more fully embrace my role as a father. I believe it’s one of the primary reasons that helped my daughter and I create such a strong bond.

Dad I admire.

My best friend, Dave. He has lived several states away from his daughter for a number of years and never lets that get in the way of being engaged and involved in her life. They have an extremely close and loving relationship as a result, and he inspires me to be the best dad I can be each day.

  1. Awwwwww love this!!! Parenting is definitely a joy. I think we all struggle at first trying to figure out what exactly our role is.

  2. “Presence is exponentially more impactful than presents.” Could not be said any better! Christopher Veal is inspirational and spot on.

  3. I love that you mentioned that, time spent with your kids is much more important than presents. I don’t remember what presents I got, but I do remember all the times I had spent with my dad. He’s my biggest supporter, I remember all the times we spent laughing and that’s the most beautiful thing he could give me. 🙂

What a very inspiring post from a dad! I usually read posts like this from moms and it is amazing to see how dedicated and passionate you are.

  5. This is such a nice story. Being a father is really something wonderful and scary at the same time but being a father is a gift from God.

  6. This is great. I really like when dads are present in their child’s life. Even though we got divorced, my ex-husband has been an AH-MAZING dad. Always present and super responsible.

  7. What an inspirational post, yes a parent is all about engaging with kids. I’m sure so many dad’s can really learn from this post to give quality time to their kids and engage with them.

  8. Great post! Such a great inspiration of what a father should be like to their children. I wish especially young men could read and learn so that they have a head start when they become dads. I wish I could get involved in such a program as it is one I think would have a good influence on the world.
