And so it began, many years ago as a Pagan holiday.
And so it continues, with our annual Halloween block party.
The kids are completely disappointed this year because Halloween has had the audacity to land on a school night.
Actually, I can understand their feelings. Halloween is always at its best when it lands on a Friday, or a Saturday. On these days, we do not have to rush home to rush through homework to be ready for the festivities. Quite to the contrary, we rush home, get dressed and PARTY.
We enjoy late nights, sleepovers and way too much candy.
This year, we enjoy the evening, visiting with friends, and eating too much candy.
Ok. so it does not sound all that different.
At any rate, the block party is a fun time for all with plenty of people in attendance. I love to see the kids all dressed up.
We are original owners on this cul-de-sac, having bought almost 15 years ago, which means we have seen many of these kids grow up. It is so interesting to watch their progress through life.
My beauty is in the glasses and pictured with her bestie.
The food is plentiful, as are the good times, and then the kids are off to trick-or-treat.
This is a very different year for us. Our youngest child has now joined the ranks of her older siblings.
She no longer needs or wants us to walk around with her.
She is, in fact, quite excited when we tell her that she has permission to trick-or-treat without us.
They all go off with groups of friends for a fun evening.
We stay home and sit outside with friends handing out candy.
It is different, but still fun.
