Better Health does not have to be difficult to achieve.

1. Avoid M.S.G.

We commonly hear of it in Chinese food but it, in fact, shows up in crackers, salad dressings, and most processed food.

It is important to read your labels carefully so as to avoid harmful ingredients. Click To Tweet

Note that since MSG is actually a natural substance, the food labels that list “natural flavoring” may have MSG as an ingredient. Yeast extract, autolyzed yeast, and hydrolyzed proteins are additional ingredients that can act like MSG.

This excitotoxin is a method of overstimulation and has been linked to the neurodegenerative disorder, brain damage, depression, and obesity.

2. Live in a plant-filled environment.

Plants can help to absorb chemicals, improve air quality and elevate mood. #breatheasy Click To Tweet

NASA, along with Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA) suggests one plant per 100 square feet of the home or office space to achieve better health.

3. Use Glass.

Glass straws are an alternative to toxin leaking plastic straws. Additionally, they are eco-friendly, There is also no worry about plastic which is a petroleum byproduct. Undoubtedly, petroleum is neither environmental nor skin-friendly.

A quality glass straw is made from high-quality glass and is resistant to chipping and breakage.

This is a terrific step towards improving your health and the taste of your beverage.

Stainless steel or bamboo straws are also great options.

4. Slow Down.

We have this deep desire to be successful and we feel a strong pull to be all for everyone.

However, we often forget to “slow down and smell the roses.” Mindfulness can help.

Deep, diaphragmatic breathing will bring nourishing, clean oxygen into the body while assisting to bring mindfulness into the day. Click To Tweet

This is an important foundation for our bodies’ energy production.

Without a doubt, yoga and meditation are worth considering. Unquestionably, these are often of tremendous help.

5. Love yourself.

Offer yourself kindness and remember that a negative attitude will bring a negative life.

6. Personalize your strategy with practical healthcare choices

If you’re going to look after your health well, a big part of what’ll make that possible is choosing the right healthcare providers and professionals. If you sustain a back injury, finding the right help to fix it is key. Don’t just speak to a general doctor, seek out a specialist instead. You can find an auto injury chiropractor that’ll specialize in helping you. And the same applies to whatever specific issue you might be experiencing.

Undoubtedly, all of the steps mentioned can be implemented by virtually anybody. Nonetheless, it’s important to remember that no two people are the same. This is why your journey towards improved mental health should be tailored to your needs.

A deeper understanding of your mental health is vital. Exploring neurofeedback treatment for anyone with anxiety, depression, ADHD, or any other issue can be of great help. Clearly, knowledge is power.

The increased insight can only help guide any subsequent medications, therapies, and lifestyle changes. A generic approach will result in only limited progress.

  1. I now eat at home 100% of the time! Agree with all of your points. Walking and general exercise everyday is my go to. Don’t have room in my house for plants, but perhaps I need to make room, after reading this!

  2. OK. I agree that replacing plastic straws is good for the environment. Not quite so sure that glass straws are an improvement- not only due to breakage, but to the fact that many materials adhere to glass – so cleaning becomes a critical function.

  3. I love all of these tips and need to start implementing more of them. I recently have gotten house plants and I can tell you nasa is not lying. My mood has been so much better.

  4. I love the strategies that you wrote. Personally, what I’m doing now is unloading the negativity from the past. I thought I forgot them but apparently, no. So what I do is write about them. I found that writing about those past experiences has helped me move forward. I should’ve done that a long time ago.

  5. Agree that we should personalise our strategy. I used to be so pressured by not taking care of my mental health the way that others are (especially with everyone posting on social media how they are doing “self care”) but this post reminded me that each person has their own thing that works for them.

    1. Meki, I am so sorry that people tried to take your control. Just because something works for one person, or for several people, does not mean it will work for another. Each person is a unique being and that should be honored. I am so happy that you have found what works for you.

  6. A simple list that will make a huge impact indeed. The best thing about having a simple list is that it makes them doable. Unfortunately I will not be able to avoid MSG since I am very dependent on food deliveries.

  7. such a great tips for our lifestyle.interesting i didn’t know about Glass straws before. Thanks for sharing with us.

  8. I try to limit my use of plastics in every area of my life. I never use disposable plates or dishware, and I have a few stainless steel and glass water bottles, as well as straws.

  9. I do my best to buy products that have very little packaging. It’s almost impossible to find them with none, but I figure less is better than more.

  10. Navigating healthy choices in the grocery store
Cancer patients undergo a lot of body changes due to consistent chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy sessions. While it is essential to make a list of the prescribed medications, visit the doctor timely for follow-ups, and maintain a healthy diet, there is a lot that you can do at home. To begin with, the grocery list needs immediate attention. The grocery store provides you with racks after racks of food items. But you must decide to be a smart buyer and invest in precisely what the body needs to recover faster. Continue reading ahead to find a customized grocery list for all types of cancer.

  11. Loved the article. In particular the part on plants. I have 10 plants beside my desk in my office. Improves the air quality of every room in my home, except the bathroom as there is no window. Also the 5 exercises for mental health. Liked the walking information. Great info.

  12. oh I am loving this! Especially that you bring up self love. That’s the true foundation of a healthy lifestyle. When you love yourself you want to treat yourself with kindness, which inspires you to live and eat well. It all comes together when love and respect for yourself are your true modivations . Thanks for sharing! ♡

    1. Yes. Your comment 100% reinforces the self love concept. It is so important and something we often skip. It is sad that this is the case.

    1. Claudia, Thank you for sharing your story. I am quite hopeful that these extra tips may even further help your situation. I know that the inflammation and other issues can be very difficult to handle. I am here for you if you need anything.
