A Holistic Journey

A Holistic Journey started all of this.

I first started blogging many moons ago when computers were first invented!

Okay, well that is not true but I did start writing at a very young age. I would write poems, short stories,  and musings. Actually, I would share my opinions about everything that was going on around me. My diary (they were not called “journals” then) was quite an interesting read…  it was even full of others people’s secrets.

From a young age, I learned not to ever tell someone’s secrets.

However, these secrets had to go somewhere and into my diary, they went. I also put my secrets into this cute little book because of something that my grandmother told me.

“A secret is no longer a secret once you tell even one person.”

Over time, I realized my “secrets” were not really secrets. By and large, this was because I enjoyed sharing my experiences with people.

However, this was always while respecting others and keeping their secrets to myself.

I always felt that if we were all more open we could learn so much from one another and we could avoid many mistakes while achieving much more success in our pursuits.

Out of this belief, my original blog was born…. “A Holistic Journey.”

Other people’s stories and secrets were kept safe, the name was terrible. The read was fun, emotional and very, very real. The reader learned about me in a very raw way.  I shared my thoughts on everything going on around me. This included my health and weight issues, emotional strife, the journey into the land of vegan, feelings about family and lessons learned while raising my children.

I learned too. I learned about me, I learned about my readers and I also learned something else fascinating. Strangely enough, I learned about which friends and family members were a bit paranoid and often thought I was writing about them.

But then something changed.

I changed the name of my blog and went in a different direction. In many ways, I loved what I had created but some things were just a bit off. Therefore, I worked at reinventing the blog again. I became happier with much of it but still knew that something was not quite right. I had not quite yet put my finger on exactly what that was.

Lately, I have been changing some things behind the scenes. However, I still knew in my heart of hearts that there was more to come. I just had to decide what.

Then tonight happened. I am writing this post at midnight because I am so very pumped up. Tonight someone who I am working on a project with asked me a question.  This question brought me down a confrontational little rabbit hole.

It made me uncomfortable. Yet these many hours later, very grateful.  I know you all want to know who that person was, and if it was you. I can only tell you the reality. If the person that asked me that question reads this post then she absolutely positively knows that it was her. I will not call her name out but I do have a message.

“Thank you for asking what you did as it has helped me tremendously and will for many years to come.”

So where does that leave us? How about this blog? And this meandering post which I will not edit as I want it to be very, very real?

This revelation brings us on a journey together as I change some things on my blog.  Including various name changes such as Natural Health and Wellness Options. This name is, in fact, the name of one of my signature talks and the name of my successful Facebook group

However, after really thinking about what I want to represent I actually came up with something different.

Life is all about love, happiness, inspiration, relationships, and health. Every single one of these things has an effect on how wonderful, fulfilled and inspired your life is. This is Inspired Holistic Living.

I want to inspire you to live a full and wonderful life.

This information will be brought to you by me, Dr. Elise Cohen Ho. I will also invite team members,  guest bloggers, and people I have not even met yet. I will endeavor to inspire you to live your very best life in every single aspect. Your relationship with yourself and with others. Nutrition, healthy living and even in business. The latter is for those of you who are in the natural health field, bloggers, educators or just interested in what is being shared.

We will go on trips, family outings, and other adventures. We will eat, laugh, and love. We will talk about health, families, friendships, husbands, wives , sex and everything else. We will be real and we will be messy but most of all … we will be fun!

On this wonderful and new incarnation of pages you can look back and see all of the posts from the original blog. Of course, I will also include every blog incarnation ever since.

On these pages you will see me and you will get to know me. You will decide if you like me, or if you do not. I will continue to share relationship advice, health and wellness tips, recipes and business tips.

That is ME. That is my life.

I love to help people to love and respect themselves. The importance of having healthy relationships with family and friends is clear. Understanding, and creating, the boundaries for all people in both the face to face and virtual world is important.

I love to offer healthy living, tips, and recipes. It is my calling to share all types of information that, in my opinion, will help you to live your best life possible. This includes your entire family, kids, significant other, elders and even your pets.

I will go back to sharing all of me.

That Elise that seemed to disappear from her own blog a while ago. She is BACK!

I hope that you will stick around and get to know her because she really is fun. However, she sometimes likes to shock people Upon occasion she says some things rather bluntly but always with love.

A little FYI, she talks about sex too.

Come and join me on this journey. A Holistic Journey indeed!

Dr. Elise Cohen Ho

  1. This was a really good, inspirational read. You have found you true calling in holistic health. I can’t wait to be like you when I grow up (finish school). I wish you nothing but the greatest of success and health.

  2. I’m really looking forward to sharing your journey, Elise, and think you’re on to a winner here. You sound so excited about the new direction and it’s that passion, and a more personal approach that will inspire you to write and add uniqueness.

I did say the old name out loud a few times and realize what you mean:-) The new one get’s around that nicely. “Building strong relationships and healthy lives” not only sums your topics up very well but is a catchy tag line that also tells us your mission.

Wonderful to see you coming back for if your working for yourself and projecting the real you out to the world why change. Nice to see such a strong conviction on being yourself. And O.M.G. sex really what shocking stuff lol

  4. Happy to hear your soul searching has discovered your forever name…and here’s to your new blog Natural Health and Wellness Options! It will still be a journey as we discover more, and I look forward to your tips and recipes.
Isn’t it amazing how one question can have so much effect, you must have been waiting for it sub-consciously 🙂

  5. I am so excited Dr.Elise to hear about your journey and your newly restored excitement in sharing your own journey into the world of REAL wellness. I applaud you and look forward to continuing to share this journey with you through your posts.

I actually prefer your original name, as I believe we are all on a journey through this life. Some believe we have many journeys and others believe this our one and only journey. it doesn’t matter to me. I just love the idea that we are on a journey as you can’t get your steps on a journey wrong you simply get slightly off-course and reset when you realize you are off course, you also set new destinations whenever you choose.

But I love the raw realness of this writing!

    1. HI Mary –

I love the journey aspect too. Life is a beautiful journey and we should absolutely enjoy the view.

I so appreciate your comment about my writing. It is a real back to basics move for me and I am so excited about it.

    Hey Elise,
Life is forever changing, isn’t it. I’m excited for you! Sometimes, maybe many times, people say things and it’s just what you need to hear at that moment … especially if it changes you, inspires a new direction in your life … sounds wonderful.. so look forward to your future posts …

  7. Hi Elise,

What a great decision you have made. Whenever you post something on your blog or on Facebook, I find it so useful. Looking forward to learning more

  8. Hi Dr. Elise, I think as we’re blogging many times, we lose ourselves in what we think is expected, when in reality we have to learn to give those things which we have with being ourselves. Reflection often helps us come back to ourselves, just as you probably did often in your diary. You learned who you are and what your mission is about… helping others. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Reflection is such an important part of your life. Each time I think of that I think of looking into a pond and seeing what reflects back at you. The water is gently moving along as we too are meant to do.

  9. I am glad to see you found a spark to light up the passion you always had in writing and write about your journeys both personal and others.
