And The 2017 Golden Foodie Nomination Goes To

The 2017 Golden Foodie Awards was an incredible sold out Red Carpet Event at Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa.

Orange County’s culinary elite gathered on Sunday, September 24, 2017. It was a celebration of the best of the best.

Ketel One Vodka and Roca Patron Cocktails were among the cocktail choices.

The impressive guest list included Simon Majumdar and Food Network Star Aarti Sequeira. Additional guests included Top Chef All-Star Marcel Vigneron and Master Sommelier Michael Jordan.

No one left hungry with such great food options. Angelina’s Pizzeria, Filomena’s, Pascal & Baja Shellfish Farms, Mozambique, Sol Agave, and Pizzeria Ortica brought deliciousness. Of course, there was more for good measure. Additional foodie options came from Mix Mix Kitchen & Bar, Waterman’s, Hook & Spear, and Red O. Additionally, Legado Bar + Kitchen, House of Blues, Skyloft, Urbana, Puesto, Taco Rosa. Lastly, Melissa’s Produce offered delectables.

Once seated in the ballroom there were more culinary delights and cocktails to enjoy. Additionally, guests, top chefs, and foodie icons enjoyed edible art, videos, and the presentations.

2017 Bartender of the Year – Jose Zepeda of Hopscotch.

 

Paul Joseph Piane of Orange Hill Restaurant and Tanner Johnson of Watertable – the runner-ups.

The 2017 Best Cocktails in Orange County – The Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens.

Vine Restaurant & Bar and Hopscotch – runner-ups.

The Ranch Restaurant – Best Bar Program.

The Blind Rabbit and Vine Restaurant & Bar – runner-ups.

Best Lunch Spot in Orange County – Sgt. Pepperonis.

The Deck and Farmhouse at Rogers Gardens – runner-ups.

Best Brunch in Orange County – Old Vine Cafe.

Bosscat and Taco Rosa were runner-ups in this category.

The 2017 Best New Restaurant – Mix Mix.

Taco Brat and Recess Room were the runner-ups.

Rising Star Chef of 2017 – Chef Manny Velasco of Sol Agave.

The runner-up in this category included Chef Joel Harrington of Lido Bottle Works and Chef JT Walker of Pacific Hideaway.

The Fork Report’s Neil Saavedra –  2017 Favorite Orange County Food Influencer.

Connie Bang-Co Aboubakare of OC Comestibles and Sondra Barker of Pretty Fit Foodie – runner-ups

Best Wine Program – The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar.

Second and third were Napa Rose and The Ranch Restaurant.

Best Beer Program – TAPS Fishhouse and Brewery.

Second and third were Hopscotch and Skyloft.

Bruno Serrato of Anaheim White House – Most Outstanding Community Service.

Dave Hanna of Hanna’s Prime Steak and Pascal Olhats of Pascal’s certainly did their part too.

Winner: Bruno Serrato – Anaheim White House

The 2017 Restaurateur of the Year – Alicia Whitney of SeaSalt & SeaLegs, Huntington Beach.

Second and third were Teresa Razo of Villa Roma, Laguna Hills and Blake Mellgren of Craft House, Dana Point.

2017 Best Dessert Menu in Orange County- Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen.

 Additional wonderful options are offered at Mixed Bakery and Anqi.

 Enjoy the 2017 Golden Foodie Best Entree in Orange County – Cowboy Ribeye, The Ranch Restaurant.

Second and third were Bosscat Burger at Bosscat Kitchen+Libations and Korean Fried Chicken at Krave Asian Fusion Restaurant.

 2017 Best Service Award ~ Selanne Steak Tavern.

The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar and Villa Roma also offer outstanding service.

2017 Golden Foodie Pastry Chef of the Year – Elyssa Fournier,

David Rossi and Jorge Sotelo certainly bring some gorgeous cake to the table.

2017 Golden Foodie Chef of the Year – Chef Rich Mead.

Second and third were Chef Ross Pangilinan and Chef Michael Rossi.

Lifetime Achievement Awards – Chef Alan Greeley.

  1. I would love to try out these restaurants when I next visit America. It’s great that these restaurants have been recognised for their fantastic food and service.

  2. Whaaat?! This is so interesting, I had no idea that such award existed. Honestly, as a foodie, I would be super proud to be at least nominated to Golden Foodie Awards.

  3. Great list! These places sound amazing…love your pics! My husband and I plan to be in that area in the next few years. We’ll definitely have to try a few .
